Official Press Release

On Tuesday, February 19, 2024, members of the SBCA Chapter, Iowa Truss Manufacturers Association (ITMA), met virtually. At this meeting, ITMA was renamed to ICMA, Iowa Component Manufacturers Association, and officially reorganized as an SBCA managed chapter. This transition started back in February 2023, when the chapter decided to dissolve as an Iowa non-profit corporation and reestablish as an SBCA managed chapter. With the name change and reorganization, ICMA updated their bylaws and established a new Board. The newly elected Board members of ICMA are Tim Noonan as President (2-year term), Rick Parrino as Vice President (4-year term), and Zach Shepherd as Secretary (3-year term). The length of terms is different to create staggered terms for proper succession planning purposes. The current regular chapter members, for 2024, consist of:

As an SBCA managed chapter, ICMA has been working closely with SBCA’s staff. "It's been a privilege being a part of ICMA's journey and witnessing their remarkable growth,” says Talia Zanotelli, SBCA’s Membership Coordinator. “I'm eagerly anticipating what the future holds for the chapter and am looking forward to helping the chapter thrive."

With more SBCA involvement in its chapters, the goal is to ease the burden and aid as much as possible in local involvement and outreach. “SBCA provides great assistance in coordinating and scheduling meetings, keeping meeting minutes, and keeping track of our finances,” says Tim Noonan, President of ICMA and Cascade Manufacturing Co. “This made the decision very easy. With the logistics of establishing this new entity behind us, we can focus on some things we’d like to do to be a more vibrant entity, such as stepping up our networking and education efforts with building officials.”

SBCA chapters are a crucial piece to the association’s national reach, allowing regional SBCA members to meet for local advocacy and education opportunities and furthering the overall mission of SBCA. SBCA’s mission is for its members to gain the knowledge and power to run successful, growing, profitable companies offering a compelling competitive advantage in the marketplace for their customers and professional growth for employees.
