Christine Wagner

Featured this week is Christine Wagner, SBCA’s Director of Communications, and Managing Editor of SBCA Magazine. As someone who comes from a background in executive level support, project coordination, events, and marketing, Christine possesses many skills and qualities that benefit the association every day. Through her various roles over the course of her career, Christine brings diverse experience to the table, utilizing all she learned from her time in such different industries, dealing with a multitude of personalities, competing demands, and successfully harmonizing those things into accomplished objectives.

Christine is dedicated and passionate, driven to do and be better and to learn more. She strives for excellence in all her tasks, while being incredibly organized, meticulous, and detail-oriented in her work. In her role as Director of Communications, Christine is working on and implementing a comprehensive approach to a strategic communications plan, being mindful of all the audiences the association wants to reach, both internally and externally. She has spent the last three years at SBCA cultivating relationships with people across the industry and expanding her knowledge of the industry and the broader construction supply chain. Christine looks forward to all the new and fun opportunities and challenges this brings her; embracing the different contributions she’ll bring to the organization.

”I’m excited to work with Christine in this role,” says Sean Shields, SBCA’s Director of Marketing. “She’s the perfect fit as someone who understands the industry, has built connections with manufacturers throughout the country, and has the skill and drive to execute a national strategic communications strategy.”

As someone who has worked with Christine in her previous role as executive assistant to the executive director, and also having served the association for 20 years, Molly Butz, SBCA's Managing Director, lends her perspective. “Watching Christine transition into this new role as Director of Communications has been a real treat,” says Molly. “We’re finally fully utilizing her talent and skills and the association is much better off for it. She brings a lot to this team, and I cannot wait to see where she takes us.”

While Christine is known for many of her skills here at SBCA and her success so far in her administrative career, it is often a surprise to hear of her background in the arts. Christine studied music for her undergraduate degree and plays the flute, piano, and sings opera/classical music. Her favorite opera role she played was Adele from Strauss’s Die Fledermaus.

In Christine’s free time, she and her husband like to explore the Black Hills of South Dakota; trying out different hikes, playing disc golf or badminton, and enjoying trivia nights with friends. You can often find Christine with her fur babies or photographing the nature around her. Christine be reached at cwagner@sbcacomponents.com
