BeLit, Inc., the parent company of a growing family of construction, engineering, design, and manufacturing businesses, is pleased to announce the promotion of Dan Morris to the role of Director of Business Development, effective January 2026. Dan transitions into this position after more than two decades of service with BeLit’s engineering company, Apex Technology.
Dan’s professional path began in Virginia, where he completed an apprenticeship at Norfolk Shipbuilding and developed his AutoCAD skills while working in the shipyard’s engineering department. He later transitioned into residential construction and moved to Florida, where he continued building his technical expertise with Southeastern Metals before joining Apex in 1999 as a Field Representative.“From the moment I started at Apex, I was given opportunities that kept me close to our clients and close to the work,” said Dan as he reflects on the journey that led to this promotion. “Those early years taught me how all the pieces fit together—engineering, truss design, field conditions, client needs—and that understanding shaped every step of my career.”
Dan has also served as Truss Design Manager, Operations Manager, and ultimately Chief of Staff. Over his 26 years with Apex, his dedication and success in client-facing roles has made him one of the company’s most recognizable and trusted points of contact. Dan has spent his career interfacing with customers, improving processes, and helping to shape Apex’s culture of responsiveness and reliability, all while gaining a uniquely comprehensive sense of how the BeLit family of companies—including True Design Studios, Apex Technology, and True House—collaborate to support builders and solve challenges across the construction process.
BeLit’s rapid growth in recent years has continued to advance its mission of delivering coordinated, technology-enabled solutions for the homebuilding industry, an effort fueled by leaders who are deeply aware of both customer needs and the organization’s evolving capabilities. “Dan is one of the few leaders who truly understands our business from every angle. He has served in nearly every role as our companies have grown, and that depth of experience gives him a unique advantage,” said Barry Dixon, BeLit’s CEO. “More importantly, he cares deeply about our customers, about their success, and about his team. His character and commitment make him the ideal leader for this next chapter as BeLit’s Director of Business Development.”
“I’ve always found a lot of satisfaction in being someone people could call when they needed answers or support. What excites me most about this new position is the chance to strengthen longtime partnerships and forge new relationships,” said Dan. “I love helping people solve problems to make their jobs easier, their projects smoother, and their businesses stronger. This role gives me the opportunity to do that on a larger scale and introduce clients to tools and services that can truly help them grow.”
Outside of work, Dan is actively involved in his church community, where he serves as a Deacon and enjoys participating in various service opportunities. He also enjoys clay shooting, hands‑on projects, and—most of all—time with family. Of all the hats he wears, Dan says “Grandpa” is his favorite title, and he spends much of his free time enjoying the growing group of little ones in his life.
