Forisk Releases Top 10 North American and U.S. Lumber Producer Lists for 2025

ATHENS, Ga. — Forisk Consulting recently released its annual list of Top 10 North American and U.S. Lumber Producers in 2025. Forisk distills the list from tracking more than 2,300 forest industry mills, including planned capacity changes.

In a posted excerpt from the Forisk Research Quarterly, the company noted, “2025 was a tough year for lumber manufacturers. Lumber prices dropped 8% and housing starts declined 1% in the U.S. Firms shuttered mills in all major regions and North American softwood lumber capacity fell 2% from 74 BBFT to 73 BBFT. Despite this, firms are planning and making investments in strategic mills and wood baskets.”

According to Forisk, the sam34 BBFT e Top 10 lumber manufacturing firms retained their rankings from 2024. Combined, these firms represent 47% of North American capacity. 2025 saw the total capacity of these firms decline by 4% from 2024 to 34 BBFT.
