The Structural Building Components Association (SBCA) is pleased to announce that its Board of Directors has approved the creation of a new political action committee: the Structural Building Components Political Action Committee (SBC PAC). This new PAC is designed to help create a unified, proactive voice for the structural building components industry in Washington, D.C., and throughout the country.

SBC PAC will serve as an advocacy tool to help member companies, including manufacturers of roof trusses, floor trusses, wall panels, and other offsite structural framing elements, influence public policy that affects housing, construction, and manufacturing. Its mission is to support policies that protect and advance the interests of component manufacturers, while raising awareness among lawmakers about the essential role the industry plays in supporting national economic and housing goals.

One focus of the SBC PAC will be engaging directly with federal lawmakers. As part of this effort, SBCA’s established activities, such as the SBCA Advocacy Committee's annual Legislative Fly-In to Capitol Hill, will now be augmented through the outreach and support of the PAC. Additionally, SBC PAC will seek to continue to amplify SBCA’s participation in high-profile events like the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) annual Innovative Housing Showcase, where the association has demonstrated how structural building components can offer efficient, already-scalable solutions to the nation’s housing needs.

By bolstering its advocacy efforts through SBC PAC, SBCA aims to build stronger relationships with key figures in Congress. The PAC will help ensure that component manufacturers have a seat at the table when legislation or regulations impacting things like housing, construction standards, supply chains, and offsite manufacturing are under consideration.

For SBCA members, the launch of SBC PAC represents a significant step forward in its advocacy efforts, providing a formal, organized way to begin to influence public policy at the federal level and amplify the voice of the structural building components industry. As SBCA continues its mission of representing and strengthening manufacturers of components, SBC PAC will be a powerful tool.

The SBC PAC is now open for support and engagement from industry members committed to shaping a favorable legislative and regulatory environment for component manufacturing.
