ALBERTVILLE, Ala. — Southern Parallel Forest Products Corp., a subsidiary of Parallel Lumber Group, is closing its lumber plant in Albertville, Alabama, nearly three years after a shuttered lumber facility was reopened by Southern Parallel Forest Products.
According to a WARN filing with the state of Alabama, 62 employees are expected to be affected when a lumber company closes its Albertville facility on April 8, 2026. Details of the closure were not immediately available.
In August 2023, a shuttered sawmill, formerly Bowater Lumber, was reopened under a new company. At the time, the company said that it would operate one shift and progress to two shifts. At full capacity, officials expect the company to employ around 130 people and produce more than 100 million board feet of southern yellow pine dimensional lumber for the domestic market.
