The National Framers Council was back on the green!

The National Framers Council (NFC) held their annual Regional Meeting and Charity Golf Tournament at Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City, MD, on Monday, April 29-Tuesday, April 30, 2024. With perfect weather and over 100 attendees, the two-day event was filled with good information and speakers, 18 holes of golf, delicious food, and plenty of fun and networking at every turn.

The first day of the event kicked off with the annual meeting, opened by NFC President, Chris Breedlove, followed by three presentations by: Miller Group’s Director of Construction, Dave Tapparo; Sherwood Lumber’s COO, Kyle Little; and NAHB’s Director of Labor, Health, and Safety, Brad Manion. The speakers presented on the lumber market, OSHA, CISC, NAHB safety, and construction practices.

After presentations concluded, the evening transitioned to dinner and drinks at Terrace on the Green, with an open bar sponsored by NOMAD Framing. The conversation was robust, and the food was delicious; with choices of chicken Chesapeake, filet mignon, or portobello ravioli, there was no wrong decision. Attendees had great fun and conversations amongst one another throughout the evening, enjoying their time together connecting in a social setting. The evening came to a close with a delectable, salted caramel cheesecake and excited anticipation for the tournament the next day.

The following day began with a welcome address, and breakfast sponsored by Parksite, Inc. Golf activities commenced with a shotgun start, ensuing friendly competition amongst the 100+ golfers, as they strove for first place. The groups were off – putting and driving away, using any cheat packs they may have purchased to help them win the game. A beer cart, sponsored by Simpson Strong-Tie, followed the group providing refreshments throughout the event. Lunch, sponsored by Modu Tech and Stark Truss Baltimore, was available on the course for the golfers to enjoy, as well, with choices of Italian sausage, hamburger, or hot dog, with coleslaw and chips – a perfect lunchtime meal for a day on the golf course.

After the last group played its 18th hole and scores were tallied up, the tied winning teams were Richard Murphy, Patrick Murphy, Colin Murphy, and Jim Brown from RPM Construction Corp and Tim Deegan, Chad Barth, Steve Yelland, and Craig Howe from Lumbermen and Associates.
A big congratulations to both groups!

“This will be my third year working with this event. I am continuously thrilled to witness its remarkable growth and evolution year after year,” says Talia Zanotelli, SBCA’s Membership Coordinator. “Each meeting not only reinforces the strong community and shared goals among us, but also introduces fresh, innovative ideas and discussions that keep us aligned with industry standards and advancements. I am excited to see how it continues to develop and am looking forward to continue contributing to its success in the years to come."

The expanding network of professionals and the increasing support from sponsors reflect the event’s rising influence and importance. Thank you to all the premiere sponsors: Shelter Systems Limited, Builders FirstSource, and Shelter Products; to our golf hole sponsors: Moment Innovations, NOMAD Framing, Foundation Building Materials, Bozzuto Construction Company, MiTek USA, Lumbermen Associates, Louis J. “I’m incredibly proud of this year’s event. We had a bit of everything: camaraderie, a great cause, timely and valuable insight from our presenters, perfect weather, and countless lost golf balls,” says Ryan Hikel, NFC Member, and Sales Manager at Shelter Systems. “The growth of the Charity Golf Outing mirrors the trajectory of the National Framers Council as a whole; it gets bigger and better every year. Overall participation and dollars raised surpassed my already lofty expectations, which makes me very excited to start planning for 2025. The future of the NFC is certainly a bright one.”
