SBCA Expands and Refines Select Staff Roles

The Structural Building Components Association (SBCA) announces targeted staff role alignments designed to strengthen organizational focus, enhance member support and value, and advance industry engagement. The updates reflect a strategic refinement and expansion of responsibilities across the team, aligning key functions with the evolving needs of the association and its membership. Together, the changes support SBCA’s ongoing commitment to member value, industry visibility, and coordinated messaging.

Abby Langenberg, Director of Business Development & Member Engagement
Abby Langenberg continues to lead SBCA’s business development and membership growth efforts as Director of Business Development & Member Engagement. Abby maintains primary responsibility for membership strategy, BCMC exhibit sales, and advertising sales across SBCA’s publications and digital platforms. Her role now also expands to include philanthropic development support for the SBCA Foundation, in addition to overall membership development with increased emphasis on strengthening the membership pipeline, enhancing retention and engagement, and identifying new opportunities that support the association’s long-term sustainability. Sean Shields, Director of Strategic Partnerships
Sean Shields continues to lead SBCA’s market development strategy and industry outreach as Director of Strategic Partnerships. Sean maintains leadership of SBCA’s external and strategic partnerships, the association’s exhibiting presence at external industry events, and key initiatives that promote the value of structural building components across the broader construction ecosystem. His role now expands to include leadership of SBCA’s coordinated advocacy outreach supporting the Advocacy Committee and the SBC PAC, where he will help translate policy priorities into clear, strategic industry engagement. He will also assume operations of SBCA’s magazines as Managing Editor, collaborating with the Director of Marketing & Communications on strategy, content planning, and publication. Christine Wagner, Director of Marketing & Communications
Christine Wagner continues to lead SBCA’s communications and messaging strategy as Director of Marketing & Communications, with an expanded scope that now includes the association’s comprehensive internal and external marketing and brand leadership. Christine maintains oversight of internal and external integrated communications, in addition to multi-channel marketing and engagement, and brand consistency while guiding coordinated messaging across SBCA programs, platforms, publications, and initiatives. She works collaboratively across SBCA teams to align marketing and communications with organizational priorities and provides strategic oversight and quality assurance for outward-facing materials, including brand and messaging alignment for all SBCA publications and media.
