2024 Dues Letter from the President
On behalf of everyone at SBCA, thank you for being a member of this great organization. Your involvement in this member-driven association supports our industry, as well as the broader construction supply chain. Today, we are asking you to renew your membership for the coming year and continue your investment in our efforts to grow and improve our industry as we seek to increase market share for our industry’s products and services!
The direct benefits of membership continually increase in value each year. Last year, SBCA engaged Widerlite Coaching & Consulting (WC&C) to facilitate the creation of a new strategic plan, setting us on a renewed pathway for success. Creating these specific goals and initiatives will guide SBCA’s activities and priorities over the next several years.
We have continued to offer several programs that are free to members through their SBCA membership, such as SBCA’s Financial Management Concepts Training Program and the Digital QC program. SBCA’s Digital QC program includes over 400 locations and continues to grow. SBCA Staff continuously work on the program with enhancements and updates, ensuring it is up-to-date and bug-free. A robust in-plant quality control (QC) program is an essential part of producing a good product. In today’s fast-paced environment, SBCA’s Digital QC program will enable you to conduct inspections faster and give you access to meaningful data quicker. If you haven’t already, sign up to start the onboarding process.
In continuing to provide SBCA members with valuable access to training, we implemented a new LMS, called Academy of Mine (AoM) to enhance SBCA’s education and training programs. Users will now have immediate access to the program. Once the user enrolls, they will receive login credentials automatically and can get started right away. The new AoM interface is very user-friendly and will provide a more enjoyable experience.
Also new this year, SBCA has created an electronic version of its Building Component Safety Information (BCSI) Book. It’s the same BCSI you know and rely on, but accessible on your devices in addition to the original hard copy book. This will be available to members via a subscription for $12/year. The Electronic BCSI provides immediate access, the most current information and version of the guide, the ability to save personal and private annotations directly onto the document within the portal, and the content can be searched, filtered, and sorted for easier access and finding of information.
As a member, you continue to have access to the lowest price ($5.80) on the most effective tool to convey installation and bracing best practices available to component manufacturers: SBCA’s Jobsite Package. You cannot find a more cost-effective way to inform installers of proper installation and bracing techniques that minimize product collapses and ensure safe and proper installation of your products. If you aren’t sending one out with every job you deliver, I’d strongly encourage you to take another look at this simple and affordable tool. The SBCA Jobsite Package is also available in a customizable, electronic format.
SBCA is committed to keeping you informed and engaged in everything impacting the component manufacturing industry. From advocacy on code changes, federal regulations, and legislation, to sharing the latest developments through SBCA Magazine, the week’s top industry news headlines, lumber podcasts, and more. There are also a ton of tools available through SBCA’s website. Don’t miss out on all these industry-specific resources.
As always, you’ll want to be sure to attend our industry’s trade show, BCMC & Framer Summit in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, October 7-11. We will again be integrating NFC’s Framer Summit onto the BCMC show floor with framer alley, giving even more decision makers access to component manufacturers, suppliers, and framers. Nothing else compares to the opportunity that BCMC & Framer Summit provide to attendees and exhibitors, alike. We hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
Jeff Taake
