The 2025 SBCA Innovation Grant has five recipients this year, and SBCA is excited to spotlight each one leading up to the BCMC show, where these innovators will showcase their entries on the show floor in Omaha for attendees and exhibitors alike.
This week’s Innovation Grant Recipient Spotlight features AnnotiQ.
AnnotiQ’s Smart Glasses are an innovative technology designed to streamline the work of component estimators and designers by accelerating the bidding and production phases of construction projects. They automatically convert 2D floor plans into detailed, buildable 3D models with accurate framing—while using AI to detect discrepancies in drawings, site photos, and specification sheets in real time.
“The AnnotiQ Smart Glasses help you automate any tasks you’re doing on your computer,” says Cherif Algreatly, Founder and CEO at AnnotiQ. “We wanted to integrate AI, the glasses, and our software solution into one system. With this device, you do not need to install anything additional onto your computer; you can simply put the glasses on, and it will feed real-time information back to you or perform tasks on your computer if connected via Bluetooth. The information is viewed in a layer between the screen and your eyes.”

The Smart Glasses track eye movements on a computer screen and overlay information in real time. For example, when reviewing technical drawings, the system can highlight errors; when shopping online, it can display product details. Turning a 2D plan into a 3D model takes only seconds, with the result projected between the screen and the wearer’s eyes.
“We are ordinarily a software solution start-up for construction, which is our main audience and our specialization, which is why we are excited to bring this to BCMC this year,” continues Cherif. “We believe that Smart Glasses will be the next personal computer. Everyone is using AI in different applications and targets, but with our device, you can use it any way you’d like. You can talk to this device like you do to ChatGPT, using either natural or technical language. It’s like a personal AI device that you can carry and talk with, and time after time, it understands exactly what you wanted to do and performs that task in seconds.”
“AnnotiQ also introduces a tiny AI clip device that you can integrate into any pair of regular glasses,” exclaims Cherif. “We believe that this will make the use of the technology much easier. This device has a wide range of real applications; it’s all about accuracy and quality assurance. Automating the tasks that take several hours to perform, whether simple or technical.”
AnnotiQ Smart Glasses will be featured along with the other 2025 Grant Recipients on the BCMC show floor in Innovation Alley. AnnotiQ will be located at Booth 1013. After visiting the 2025 SBCA Innovation Grant Recipient booths, attendees can stop by Booth 1012 to cast a vote for the 2025 People’s Choice Innovator, which will be announced during the Industry Celebration on Thursday, October 2.
“We are very excited and honored to be selected as one of the 2025 SBCA Innovation Grant Recipients,” says Cherif. “We weren’t really expecting it since our technology is so futuristic. We are looking forward to understanding how people in the industry would use this technology and to get feedback from them on the innovation. We’re hoping to collaborate with different companies to improve our product since those at the show are who understand this industry, how they’d use the technology, and what they’d need most from it.”
