Editor's Message: Framing Forward
Exploring the Latest Tools, Insights, and Updates
As we move further into 2025, the framing industry, as part of the overall construction industry, continues to evolve. Therefore, it is important to stay on top of what’s going on so we can adapt, innovate, and make the necessary changes to improve ourselves, our businesses, and our industry. This magazine issue brings valuable insights into the latest developments shaping our work, safety, and every day.
One key industry update is the newly revised and recently released BCSI-2025, the Building Component Safety Information Guide to Good Practice for Handling, Installing, Restraining and Bracing of Structural Building Components. This guide helps framers and installers perform safe practices in the field. This complete rehaul of the book in visuals and organization, in addition to content updates, makes it possible for framers, installers, general contractors, building officials, and others to stay informed and ahead of these changes. This article breaks down the essential updates and safety guidance on jobsite operations and processes.
Next, we dive into Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), with a first-hand account of adopting this innovative approach. As project complexities grow, IPD presents new opportunities for collaboration and efficiency, benefiting everyone from designers to installers. If you’re curious about how IPD can improve your processes, this article is a must-read.
Also in this issue, we focus on the Component Warning Notice (CWN), a safety resource providing best practice and safety information for installers. We explore what the notice is, why the content of the notice is essential for framer safety, and what to expect on the job with these added safety warnings.
As we continue to expand NFC’s newest publication, Framing Today, we’re excited to share this magazine with a growing audience of professionals across the industry. By bringing more voices and topics into the conversation, we hope to strengthen connections within our community, share knowledge, and foster a more informed, collaborative environment. However, we need help getting the word out, so please share this issue and how to subscribe with your customers, coworkers, onsite workers, and others.
This issue is full of useful content and can help provide the knowledge and tools needed to stay ahead of the industry, prioritize safety, and embrace new ways of working. As always, we welcome your feedback and stories, and look forward to hearing how these topics impact your work. Happy reading!
