Elevating the Industry at BCMC & Framer Summit 2025

SBCA’s BCMC & Framer Summit 2025 is in the books, completing an exceptional week! Held at the CHI Health Center in Omaha, NE, over 1,700 attendees and exhibitors explored the largest exhibition floor since 2007, covering nearly 72,000 square feet with 129 exhibitors. With more than 40 collective hours of networking, idea sharing, socializing, and learning, it was an incredible week of growth for the structural building component manufacturing and framing industry. 

Tuesday: Education, Engagement, & SBCA Honors Dinner 

Day 1, Tuesday, September 30, began with education sessions led by suppliers, industry experts, and peers. Popular sessions included Labor Challenges Impacting the Component IndustryAI Without the Hype, and Rise of the Robots: The Applicability of Humanoid Robotics in the CM Industry. Attendees were filled with new insights and excitement for the future. Roundtables drew hundreds of participants eager to discuss key topics, fostering valuable collaboration and conversation around building the future together. 

That evening, guests gathered at The Durham Museum, a historic train-station-turned-museum, for the SBCA Honors Dinner. The elegant setting provided the perfect backdrop to recognize outstanding achievements across the industry and within SBCA. 

A special thank-you goes to Rick Parrino (Lumber Specialties), who has served on the SBCA Board since 2001; Scott Ward (Southern Components), who has served on the SBCA Board since 2005; and Executive Committee members Gene Frogale (Blue Ocean Development) and Greg Griggs (Builders FirstSource), for their years of dedication and leadership.

Wednesday: Kick-off, Keynote, & Show Floor Buzz 

Wednesday morning began with the BCMC Kickoff, where SBCA Executive Director Jess Lohse reflected on the association’s recent accomplishments and upcoming initiatives. Outgoing SBCA President Jeff Taake expressed deep gratitude to all during his two years of leadership before officially passing the presidential gavel to Larry Dix II, who shared his vision for the years ahead and received a standing ovation. 

Following the kickoff, NAHB President and CEO Jim Tobin, CAE, delivered the keynote address. He shared valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities facing today’s home builders and highlighted component manufacturers as essential partners in the effort to build more homes, more efficiently. 

After the keynote, the exhibit hall opened to great excitement. Attendees poured in to explore a record number of machinery displays, new technologies, and hands-on demonstrations. With more than 120 exhibitors to visit, the show floor buzzed with business, learning, and collaboration throughout the day. 

Thursday: 5K, Economic Forecast, Show Floor, & Industry Celebration 

Thursday started bright and early with the Joe & Adam Kannapell 5K Run/Walk, where more than 50 participants joined in a fun and competitive morning event.

The day continued with the Economic Forecast presented by BMO Capital Market’s Chief U.S. Economist and Managing Director, Dr. Scott Anderson, who offered his analysis of the U.S. economy and housing market. The outlook was mixed with encouraging potential. While growth may slow, a recession does not appear likely.  

Concluding the show was the annual Industry Celebration on the show floor Thursday afternoon, featuring a putting challenge sponsored by Hundegger, beanbag toss sponsored by Lakeside Trailer, food and beverages, and a grand time with fellow industry professionals.

SBCA Innovation Grant  

Five Innovation Grant Recipients showcased their ideas on Innovation Alley, highlighting the creativity and forward-thinking that define this industry:

  • Alpine, an ITW company, with their Plan Comparison Tool  
  • AnnotiQ, with their Smart Glasses 
  • Dusty Robotics, with their FieldPrint Platform 
  • FairBuild AI, with their AI-powered contract review tool 
  • Randek, with their ZeroLabor Robotic Sub-assembly 

After days of attendees experiencing each of these innovations on the show floor, they had the opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice Innovator for 2025

The 2025 People’s Choice Innovator for the SBCA Innovation Grant is

SBCA Foundation 

Throughout BCMC week, the SBCA Foundation launched a matching fundraiser to amplify the impact of individual donations. Anyone who contributed $25 or more received a commemorative pin in recognition of their generosity. The Foundation’s goal was to raise $20,000 in individual donations, and they far surpassed it. With attendee contributions and matching gifts, a total of $56,001 was raised.

Looking Ahead 

BCMC & Framer Summit 2025 was a great success. Attendees and exhibitors left Omaha with new connections, fresh ideas, and renewed confidence for the year ahead.
