Hancock Lumber recently celebrated two milestones for the Oxford Components Manufacturing facility—hosting a ceremonial groundbreaking event and officially hiring Brian Mills as General Manager.
Once complete, the 44,000-square-foot Oxford site will feature advanced automation and the latest technology that will support the production of wall panels, pre-cut and labeled framing packages, stair systems and more. This week, Hancock delivered engineered wall panels and floor trusses manufactured at its existing manufacturing facilities in Windham and Fairfield, Maine.
“This is a really exciting milestone,” said Hancock Project Manager Dan Lauze. “We’ve received and will be installing the very products we manufacture every day—built with the precision and quality our customers rely on—to construct the facility that will allow us to produce even more of them. It’s a full-circle moment.”
Other advancements in construction include nearly completed roofing and siding, interior framing and window installation, as well as over 1,000 cubic yards of concrete placed for the warehouse slab and various utilities being installed in preparation for opening in early 2027.
Breaking ground
In late May, Hancock welcomed employees, project partners, builders and community members to the active jobsite in Oxford for a ceremonial groundbreaking.
This is Hancock’s return to the Oxford Hills region, after opening one of its first retail stores in South Paris in 1972 with David Hancock and Leon Truman at the helm. The South Paris store remained open for several decades before the decision to consolidate and move to what is now the current Bridgton lumberyard and kitchen design showroom.

Executive Chairman Kevin Hancock helped host the groundbreaking ceremony and spoke to the significance of the Oxford community, what the state-of-the-art facility means to Hancock Lumber as a strategic way forward, and the company’s long-term commitment to builders.
In addition to all the facility developments and construction happening at the Oxford site, Hancock named Brian Mills as the new General Manager of the Oxford manufacturing facility.
Mills brings more than 30 years of experience in the building materials industry, including significant leadership experience overseeing component manufacturing operations. During his time with Builders FirstSource (BFS), he managed multiple facilities including wall panel and truss plants, along with lumberyards and other business units across several markets. He also launched the roll out of precut and labeled framing packages in the New Mexico market.
“What initially drew my interest to Hancock Lumber was the focus on shared leadership and the idea of creating an organization where every voice felt trusted, respected, valued, heard, and empowered. The culture is the most impressive I’ve seen and is readily apparent no matter who you speak to or what location they work in. This incredible culture, coupled with the obvious commitment to investing and reinvesting in the company, makes the decision to join Team Hancock the easiest decision of my career,” Mills said.
