The Structural Building Components Association (SBCA) held its Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday of BCMC week, September 29–October 3, 2025, in Omaha, NE, marking the association’s next leadership transition and the start of a new term for several key leaders.

After two years of dedicated service, Jeff Taake concluded his term as SBCA President, formally passing the gavel to Larry G. Dix II, who will guide the association for the next two years. BJ Louws moves into the role of President-Elect and Treasurer, and as the most tenured person on the Executive Committee, Jeff continues his involvement as SBCA Secretary per recently updated bylaw changes voted upon by SBCA's Board of Directors at its September meeting.

The ceremonial gavel hand-off took place Wednesday morning during the BCMC Kick-off session, just before the Keynote Address by Jim Tobin, President and CEO of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Both Jeff and Larry shared thoughtful remarks; Jeff reflecting on the achievements and collaboration that defined his presidency, and Larry outlining his vision and goals for building upon that momentum in the years ahead.

The Board meeting also included the renewal of several board members’ terms. Gene Frogale with Blue Ocean Development, Greg Griggs with Builders FirstSource, Joe Hikel with Shelter Systems Limited, Tom Kurowski with US LBM, David Mitchell with Engineered Building Design, L.C., and Javan Yoder with Stark Truss Company, Inc. were each renewed for three-year Component Manufacturer terms on the SBCA Board of Directors.

SBCA also recognized two long-serving members who concluded their board service: Rick Parrino with Lumber Specialties, who has served on the Board since 2001, and Scott Ward with Southern Components, Inc., who began serving on the Board in 2005. Together, they contributed valuable leadership, offering insight, mentorship, and dedication to advancing the association’s mission.

The Executive Committee saw several additional updates, as well. Josh Hendrickson with Wilson Lumber, Jeff Taake with Mead Lumber, and Shawn Overholtzer with Builders FirstSource were elected as At-Large members, while Gene Frogale with Blue Ocean Development and Greg Griggs with Builders FirstSource concluded their terms of service on the Executive Committee. Gene and Greg have each provided years of steady leadership and valuable insight to the Executive Committee and the association.

SBCA sincerely appreciates the thoughtful guidance and many contributions of its departing Board and Executive Committee members.

Through these transitions, SBCA continues its longstanding tradition of strong, member-driven leadership. The association extends sincere thanks to all those — past and present — whose time, expertise, and passion have strengthened both SBCA and the broader structural building components industry.

SBCA extends its congratulations to all newly elected and returning leaders, whose commitment and expertise will help guide the association’s continued growth and success.
