SBCA and OFH Collaborate on Home for Wounded Veteran

A local Army veteran and his family received the keys to their new mortgage-free home in DeForest Friday morning.
During a special ceremony, Army Sgt. Tory Honda, his wife Marsela and their kids cut the ribbon in front of the house in the Bear Tree Farms area of DeForest.
The family was initially surprised when they learned in March they would be receiving the home.
That surprise has since turned into gratitude.
"It means so much to me," Honda said. "Perspective? I can't even put that into words. I'm just grateful, and I hope I deserve every bit of it. I feel like I don't, but I really hope I do. I hope I can live up to the standards that everybody looks forward to."
Honda served for almost seven years, during which he was involved in combat in Afghanistan and Iraq during four periods.
He is currently medically retired due to combat injuries, which required a full leg amputation.
Operation Finally Home, Tim O'Brien Homes and the Structural Building Components Association teamed up to build the home and make the gesture a reality. Operation Finally Home has worked on more than 430 home projects in 32 states since getting its start helping veterans and first responders in 2005.
