BILLINGS, MT – August 19, 2025 – The Structural Building Components Association (SBCA) is pleased to announce its return for a fourth year to the National Mall in Washington, D.C. for HUD’s Innovative Housing Showcase (IHS). Again this year, SBCA is both an exhibitor and a co-sponsor of the event, and is excited to work with the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) in this effort to help raise awareness to the various ways to not only build a home or provide shelter, but to do so in innovative, affordable, barrier-reducing, and effective ways.

As an exhibitor of IHS, the SBCA, in collaboration with the National Framers Council (NFC) and SBCA member company 84 Lumber, will frame and dry-in two two-story duplex units, each 1,500 square feet, on the National Mall in less than 10 hours to illustrate how incredibly efficient offsite manufactured structural components, such as roof trusses, floor trusses, and wall panels, are from a time, material, and labor standpoint. With over 1,300 manufacturing locations across the U.S., any structure, from a single-family home to a large multi-family apartment building, can take advantage of this offsite framing methodology and erect structures more quickly and cost-efficiently.

“This event is always a great opportunity to showcase the capabilities of the structural building components industry,” says Jess Lohse, SBCA Executive Director. “Components, such as roof trusses, floor trusses, and wall panels, are the best way to frame, especially when used as a systemized approach. Building that big green house on the Mall allows us to show just how efficient and accurate this method is, and the types of savings that can be had, usually in time, waste, material, and labor. We are excited to be back on the Mall this year to highlight the benefits of components in construction.”

HUD’s Innovative Housing Showcase is being held September 6-10, 2025, with the Opening Ceremony on Saturday, September 6th and Industry Education Sessions on Tuesday, September 9th. Past years have brought thousands of people to the National Mall for this event, including policymakers, housing industry representatives, media, industry professionals, and the public, providing valuable information and knowledge of the various building methods and technologies out there to help with housing availability, affordability, and accessibility.
