The 2025 SBCA Innovation Grant has five recipients, and SBCA is excited to spotlight each one leading up to the BCMC show in Omaha. There, attendees and exhibitors will have the chance to see these innovations showcased on the show floor.
This week’s Innovation Grant Recipient Spotlight features Alpine.
Alpine’s Plan Comparison Tool is a new AI-powered tool that analyzes two PDF versions of architectural plans, highlighting text and image differences— saving designers and estimators time while enhancing accuracy. The tool provides easier plan revision and fosters better collaboration among multi-disciplinary teams.
"The new tool takes two plans and automatically compares them side-by-side,” explains Diego Polanco, Product Owner with Alpine, an ITW Company. “Usually, you'd have to review and compare the two documents manually, which can take a lot of time and things can be missed. This automation helps our customers work faster and more efficiently.”
Alpine’s Plan Comparison Tool is designed to boost productivity, reduce errors, and streamline workflow by providing a single source of truth for everyone involved in a project. By automatically identifying changes and differences between two documents, whether images, text, drawings, or other elements, the tool ensures that revisions are clear, and nothing is overlooked. This creates a collaborative communication system where everyone from architects and engineers to designers, builders, and component manufacturers can contribute their input with confidence, knowing the comparison tool will capture their comments and revisions and reflect them in the final product.
"The tool is relevant for the overall construction industry," Diego states. "Opening the doors to stronger collaboration. While it can be challenging to keep track of all the changes happening across teams, this solution makes it easier by streamlining communication and improving everyday workflows.”
Alpine’s Plan Comparison Tool will be featured along with the other 2025 Grant Recipients on the BCMC show floor in Innovation Alley. Alpine will be located at Booth 1014. After visiting the 2025 SBCA Innovation Grant Recipient booths, attendees can stop by Booth 1012 to cast a vote for the 2025 People’s Choice Innovator. The winner will be announced during the Industry Celebration on Thursday, October 2.
“We’re really excited to showcase this innovation at BCMC,” continues Diego. “It is a great honor for myself, as an Alpine employee, for my developer team, and for Alpine, to be a recipient of this grant. We are very proud.”
