As SBCA has had many changes within its staff, from new hires to promotions, we’d like to highlight our team so our members can get to know us better. One of SBCA’s newest hires, as you might have read about in a recent article in SBCA Industry News, is Ashley Baker. Ashley is SBCA’s new Director of Education. Education is an important aspect of the association and the value provided for our members; from OQM sessions to BCMC education sessions to webinars to the association’s learning management system (LMS), education plays an integral part of our mission, vision, value, and strategic plan.

Ashley has 15 years of public education experience, in both teaching and administration, in addition to co-founding a medical credentialing and enrollment company, working for a membership-based networking organization, and obtaining her real estate license, where she specialized in new home construction. Though Ashley’s experience has taken her to many industries over the course of her career thus far, she always felt a pull towards education and missed the impact she could make from an education perspective. That is how Ashley found SBCA – Ashley finds the industry fascinating and is excited to bring educational sessions, resources, and more to our members and the industry beyond.

Ashley is dedicated, driven, passionate, tenacious, and has a go-getter attitude. “It is important to find someone that fits well in the position, but that’s only half the battle. The other half is finding someone that fits well within the team, culture, and mission of the association,” says Jess Lohse, SBCA’s Executive Director. “Ashley possesses great perspective and insight into education and has already come up with many good ideas to implement that will add more value for our members. We are excited to see how this position and Ashley help the progress of our strategic plan and overall goals of SBCA.”

With education being such a large piece of what we do here at SBCA to provide value to our members and to better the industry, we have been anxious to add this position to our team. “Adding Ashley to the team is such an exciting time for SBCA! Education is one of the mainstays for any well-rounded association, and Ashley brings a wealth of talent and fresh ideas to our ongoing endeavor to provide valuable education and training to both our membership and the greater construction industry,” says SBCA’s Managing Director, Molly Butz. “Her drive and savvy are exactly what SBCA is looking for in a Director of Education and will be a great asset in many, many ways now and into the future”.

While Ashley’s career is a large part of her life and passion, nothing compares to her family. Ashley and her husband live in a quaint town in Texas, called Wimberley, with their four children (three of which are triplets!). Ashley loves spending quality time with her family; oftentimes, you can find Ashley at soccer games, dance classes, volleyball courts, or Boy Scouts, supporting her children in their various activities.

Ashley earned her bachelor’s degrees in education and English from the University of Portland. Ashley is an avid volleyball player, loves coffee and ‘How-To’ books, and really enjoys the Texas heat.  Ashley can be reached at abaker@sbcacomponents.com.
