The Structural Building Components Association (SBCA) is pleased to introduce Kevin Dawson as the association’s new Controller. In this role, Kevin is responsible for the accurate and timely financial management of the association, overseeing accounting operations, cash flow management, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal financial controls. He will also support senior leadership, committees, and the Board of Directors with clear financial analysis and reporting to help guide strategic decision-making.

Kevin is working closely with outgoing Director of Finance, Jennifer Gustafson, to ensure a seamless transition of responsibilities. This collaboration helps maintain continuity while positioning the association for continued operational excellence. SBCA extends its sincere thanks to Jennifer for her many years of dedicated service to SBCA and the structural building components industry.

Kevin brings more than 15 years of financial and accounting experience to SBCA. He began his career with ITW, where he spent eight years gaining broad exposure to financial operations and cross-functional training within the automotive refinishing industry. He later joined a private communications company, where he contributed to a period of significant growth that culminated in a successful sale.

“We are excited to welcome Kevin to the SBCA team,” says Molly Butz, Interim Co-Executive Director of SBCA. “His depth of financial experience and thoughtful approach to budgeting and reporting will be a valuable addition as we continue supporting our members and advancing the association’s work.”

Kevin is eager to deepen his understanding of the structural building components industry and the members SBCA serves. “I look forward to learning about the industry and our members. This is a new industry for me and I’m always excited to new learn things.”

He is passionate about accuracy, transparency, and helping others succeed. “The main thing is always making sure the financials are accurate and well understood,” he explains. “I like to know that I’m helping people and making their jobs easier or providing them useful information so they can do their jobs more effectively.”

Kevin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting from The University of Toledo. Outside of work, Kevin enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, and attending their kid’s sporting events in softball, basketball, swimming, and tennis. He and his family also follow a lot of football, cheering especially for the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Kevin can be reached at kdawson@sbcacomponents.com.
