Simpson Strong-Tie recently shot the video below at the NHERI Tallwood test site in Japan of a live in-person seismic test of a 10-story mass-timber building. This is the tallest full-scale building ever constructed on an earthquake simulator. This test will provide new insights into how to build safer, stronger, structures.
For comparison, watch this video from 11 years ago demonstrating a Simpson Strong-Ties earthquake test. It's amazing how far wood technology and testing capabilitiesa have advanced in such a short time period.
