US LBM Adds Third Texas Lumberyard of 2021

Specialty building materials distributor US LBM continued its rapid expansion activity with the acquisition of Oldham Lumber Company in Texas. Oldham serves professional builders in north Texas, including the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

“Oldham’s long history of building relationships and delivering outstanding levels of expertise and service has made it a name builders trust in north Texas, and we’re excited to welcome the Oldham team to US LBM,” US LBM president and CEO L.T. Gibson said in a news release. “The addition of Oldham strengthens US LBM’s position in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, one of the nation’s fastest-growing metro areas, and aligns with our recent acquisitions and established portfolio in Texas, providing US LBM a strong network of brands in the state that serve all customer types, from national, production, multifamily, industrial, and commercial builders to remodelers and homeowners.”

Oldham Lumber, founded in 1921, provides lumber, plywood, engineered wood and framing materials to residential builders and commercial contractors in Collin, Dallas, Denton, Hunt, Kaufman, Rockwall, and Tarrant counties in north Texas. The company operates two locations, a 10-acre yard in Dallas and a 12-acre yard in Melissa, Texas operating under the McKinney Lumber name after an acquisition completed earlier in 2021.

US LBM’s acquisition of Oldham represents the distributor’s third deal in Texas in 2021. The company added 38 Texas locations through the acquisition of Higginbotham Brothers and eight Texas locations through its acquisition of J.P. Hart Lumber.

Buffalo Grove, Ill.-based US LBM has expanded at a rapid pace dating back to November 2020. The specialty distributor added six locations through its acquisition of Zeeland Lumber in November 2020, 10 locations with its acquisitions of Ridgefield Supply Company, Tri-County Building Supplies, and Jennings Builders Supply & Hardware in December 2020, five locations with its purchase of Gilcrest/Jewett in January 2021, seven locations with its acquisitions of Brand Vaughan Lumber Company and Home Center Supply in July 2021, five locations with its acquisitions of North Georgia Building Supply, Junior’s Building Materials, and Massey Builders Supply in August, six locations with its acquisition of Mid-Cape Home Centers earlier in September, and two locations with its purchase of Northern Building Supply.

Additionally, US LBM announced its acquisition of 70+ location LBM giant American Construction Source in May.

US LBM has also opened greenfield locations in New Castle, Del., Paterson, N.J., and Yeadon, Pa., since November 2020. US LBM offers a portfolio of specialty products, including windows, doors, millwork, wallboard, roofing, siding, engineered components, and cabinetry.
