Build a Stronger Quality Program at SBCA’s Kennesaw Quality Bootcamp

Quality is an important part of every component manufacturing operation, but an effective quality program goes beyond completing inspections. It requires understanding the requirements, knowing what the data is telling you, and making sure the people responsible for quality have the knowledge and tools to apply those requirements consistently.

SBCA’s next Quality Bootcamp will take place Tuesday, October 13, at Simpson Strong-Tie in Kennesaw, Georgia. This free, full-day program gives component manufacturers and their teams an opportunity to take a closer look at Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance (QA), and the processes that support a strong quality program.

What makes these Bootcamps especially valuable is the opportunity to move beyond simply reading requirements and spend time understanding how they apply in a real component manufacturing environment. Attendees can ask questions, work through common situations, hear how others approach quality in their plants, and take part in hands-on training.

“Quality is something that touches every part of a component manufacturing operation,” says John Arne, SBCA General Manager of Audit Services. “These Bootcamps give people the opportunity to understand not only what the requirements are, but why they matter and how to put them into practice. That hands-on experience and the opportunity to ask questions can help teams go back to their plants with knowledge they can use right away.”

A key part of that conversation is digital QC. The Bootcamp will look at both paper and digital QC processes and how technology can make it easier to capture inspection information, organize records, and use quality data more effectively. Digital tools can help move QC information beyond a completed checklist, making it easier to review results over time, identify trends, and share useful information with the people who need it.

Attendees will also explore ANSI/TPI 1 and model building code requirements, in-plant QC, third-party QA audits, QC and QA data management, and truss design drawings. The program includes hands-on Quality Control inspection training, allowing attendees to put what they learn into practice during the event.
