The 2025 SBCA Innovation Grant has five recipients, and SBCA is excited to spotlight each one leading up to the BCMC show in Omaha. There, attendees and exhibitors will have the chance to see these innovations showcased on the show floor.
This week’s Innovation Grant Recipient Spotlight features Randek.
Randek’s ZeroLabor Robotic Sub-assembly is a cutting-edge system that automates the early-stage production of wall elements by using robotics to build subcomponents such as rough openings and stud assemblies — traditionally time-consuming and labor-intensive tasks. These components are then fed directly into the main wall production line, ensuring seamless flow, no downtime, and LEAN productivity at its best.
Developed over years of collaboration with customers and refined through internal R&D, the system represents the next step in Randek’s ongoing mission to pair quality control with efficiency gains in wall panel production.
“Adding automation into our existing wall panel lines helps take away unsafe situations when building subcomponents,” says Christian Olofsson, CSO at Randek. “It is very important to keep track of your safety and quality when doing automation, and this automated sub-assembly allows for better control of that with quality input.”
This innovation is designed with flexibility in mind. One feature of Randek’s sub-assembly innovation is that it complements existing products while still advancing automation. The ZeroLabor Robotic Sub-assembly gives manufacturers the option to integrate into a high-precision production line or run as a standalone unit dedicated to subcomponents.
“The ZeroLabor Robotic Sub-assembly increases automation even further,” continues Christian. “Randek has been doing robotic integration since 2016. After almost 10 years, we now have about 20 lines and are getting closer to about 100 robot arms working them. We have been working for a lot of years to put this type of innovation in the market and to increase automation all around the world.”
“The SBCA Innovation Grant aligns very well with both the innovation and business sides of Randek,” says Christian. “We want to be a pioneer and innovator of the industry, providing innovative solutions to our customers. Exhibiting our innovation at BCMC is a good way to spotlight us to make sure everyone knows what we are doing, and helping us be part of the component manufacturing industry as an innovator.”
Randek’s ZeroLabor Robotic Sub-assembly will be featured along with the other 2025 Grant Recipients on the BCMC show floor in Innovation Alley. Randek will be located at Booth 1010. After visiting the 2025 SBCA Innovation Grant Recipient booths, attendees can stop by Booth 1012 to cast a vote for the 2025 People’s Choice Innovator, which will be announced during the Industry Celebration on Thursday, October 2.
“We are looking forward to being back at BCMC to showcase our innovation and help progress the industry along with automation,” concludes Christian. “Being a Grant Recipient gives us the ability to share our sub-assembly line with so many people at the show.”
