"Made in America" Theme Highlights the
Role of Structural Building Components in U.S. Housing

Washington, D.C. – September 15, 2026 – The Structural Building Components Association (SBCA) is proud to return to the National Mall in Washington, D.C., for its fifth year as both a sponsor and exhibitor of the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development’s (HUD) 2026 Innovative Housing Showcase (IHS), taking place September 22–24.

The Innovative Housing Showcase brings together housing industry professionals, manufacturers, policymakers, innovators, and the public to experience technologies and building methods that can help address housing needs across the country. This year’s theme, “Made in America,” will highlight American manufacturing and innovative approaches to expanding housing affordability and homeownership.

For SBCA, the Showcase provides an important opportunity to demonstrate the role structural building components already play in housing construction across the United States. Roof trusses, floor trusses, and wall panels are manufactured offsite and delivered to jobsites ready for installation, helping builders use material, labor, and construction time more efficiently.

SBCA will also return with its “Big Green House,” a 3,000-square-foot, two-story duplex that gives attendees a firsthand look at structural building components and componentized framing.

“SBCA is proud to once again support the Innovative Housing Showcase and help bring the structural building components industry to the National Mall,” says Molly Butz, Managing Director of SBCA. “Our members manufacture components in communities across the country every day, so this year’s ‘Made in America’ theme is a natural fit. This event gives us an opportunity to show how American manufacturing, innovative building methods, and collaboration throughout the housing industry can all contribute to building more homes efficiently and affordably.”

“Under President Trump’s leadership, HUD is bringing the public and private sectors together to advance bold, practical solutions for housing affordability,” said Secretary Turner. “This Showcase is a powerful reminder of what is possible when free enterprise, American grit, and strong public-private partnerships come together to make the American Dream of homeownership a reality. I am grateful to our incredible sponsors and exhibitors for bringing this experience to the National Mall and giving Americans an opportunity to experience firsthand the innovation emerging across our nation.”

SBCA’s continued participation in IHS also creates opportunities to connect directly with policymakers, housing professionals, and the public and increase awareness of offsite component manufacturing. With over 1,300 component manufacturing facilities located throughout the United States, structural building components are already helping builders and framers address challenges related to labor, material use, construction schedules, and housing supply.

The Showcase will feature full-scale housing models, interactive exhibits, and educational panel discussions focused on innovative approaches to housing. HUD expects thousands of attendees, including Members of Congress, industry leaders, community stakeholders, and members of the public.

The 2026 Innovative Housing Showcase is free and open to the public on the National Mall between 7th and 12th Streets in Washington, D.C. Exhibits will be open Tuesday, September 22, through Thursday, September 24.
